All the great artists from Van Gogh to Warhol were very much of their time. Now a Wirral Gallery is hoping that it is ‘Time’ for a new generation of artists to shine in their own right.

The Rathbone Studio Gallery in Argyle Street, Birkenhead, was opened 3 years ago on the site of the iconic Della Robbia Pottery Design Centre, taking its name from the firm’s founder.

Ceramicist and owner Janet Holmes has become well known for nurturing local artists while they are still at the embryonic stage of their career. Janet has inspired them to step out of their comfort zone and exhibit their work in galleries such as The Williamson.

Artistic circles can become very insular and elitist but at The Rathbone Studio Gallery complete novices are displayed alongside established commercially successful artists. Within this open-minded and creative environment, artists of all ages and ability are able to inspire and learn from each other.

There will be eighteen artists from Merseyside exhibiting both 3 and 2 dimensional work. This latest exhibition puts all the contributors into the cultural spotlight, and for each of them, now is their ‘Time’.
