Liverpool Academy of Arts – Metrospective

Exhibition ImageMetrospective – 2nd Year BA Fine Art Group Show
Exhibition Mar 18 to Mar 28 2008

Metrospective is an exhibition of contemporary artwork produced by the second year Fine Art BA (Hons) students from Wirral Metropolitan College working within a wide range of disciplines.

The show’s private view on Monday 17th March will be opened by leading Merseyside artist Emma Rodgers. Former student and lecturer at Wirral Metropolitan College, Emma is a ceramic artist. Her work captures the essential essence of the beast, constantly pushing the boundaries of her work in terms of expression and the use of materials. Emma exhibits worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Royal Academy of Arts and galleries in New York and Chicago; She has also been nominated for the Liverpool Art Prize 08.

Each artist in the exhibition has identified an individual focus and direction but has come together because of the exploratory and experimental nature of their work. As emerging artists they felt it was important for their work to be prevalent during the European Capital of Culture celebrations taking place in the city during 2008. The exhibition reflects the individuality of each artist, in terms of the content and innovative use of both materials and visual language.

The staff at Wirral Metropolitan College are proud of their current students’ achievements “This exhibition reveals the diversity of practice our students are engaged with thus ensuring that the course is truly reflective of contemporary Fine Art practice at undergraduate level.”

The show is open to the public Monday to Friday 12 noon to 4pm, all works on display will be available for purchase.

This is the beginning of each artist’s journey towards fulfilling their lifelong dream.
