More than a hundred poets will be performing in iconic venues around New Brighton as part of Wirral Festival of Firsts.
From silly to serious, traditional to challenging, there’ll be a range of live poetry for all tastes, along with books for sale and a chance to find out about local poetry groups. NB Lunch is not included but there are plenty of local eateries.

14.00 – 16.30 – Poetry Proms three unique venues become poetry hubs:
1. Chester Poets host at the Floral Pavilion with well-crafted poetry designed to amuse, engage and intrigue. Plus Poetry Bookshop
2. The Bards of New Brighton host at Tallula’s Bar on the corner of Rowson St / Victoria Rd in New Brighton with rumbustious and challenging performance poetry from well established UK poets. Join in – or just listen. Featured poet: 3pm – ‘Angry’ Sam Berkson, slam legend. WARNING – may contain adult material.
3. Tales Around the Fire host at the iconic Fort Perch Rock off the New Brighton waterfront with story telling and poetry in the unique atmosphere of the Fort itself.
17.00 – 18.30Â – Wind Down event at Floral Pavilion hosted by Tim Kingham includes guests Chrys Salt, Kate McLoughlin, David Cook and Brian Wake.
