Corke Gallery: Lisa Cole Kronenburg
23 February – 10 March
viewing: 18 -20:00 1 March
The subject matter of Lisa’s work has always been the distant landscape – a view of something remote and out of reach. The large, empty and often panoramic swathes of land, sky and water are a defining characteristic of her painting.Â
Recently a more abstract strand of work has grown alongside these paintings – loosened from the moorings of horizon line, foreground, middle ground and background these ‘other’ landscapes explore the small, fluid incidents contained within the land, the sky, the water.
This selection of 26 paintings shows for the first time the two styles of the artist’s work – whilst her primary focus remains the more literal landscapes, her abstract paintings reveal the natural world from a much closer range.
