This exhibition is a continuation of Paul Cousins’ recent series of paintings which explore the space between land and sky. The subject matter allows him to develop his interest in landscape in a contemporary way by using colour and composition to underpin an environmental subtext.
Inspiration comes from direct observation of the real world but the finished paintings are developed from a combination of memory, imagination and the painting process.
Paul returns to Halton with an exhibition of beautiful paintings, plus early environmental etchings and a small display of sketchbooks and ephemera. Cousins was formerly Head of Art at Fairfield High School Widnes, before retiring to pursue painting full time.
