Bluecoat Display Centre: Jane Perryman In the Window

June 2012

Bluecoat Display Centre are pleased to announce ceramicist Jane Perryman as a solo exhibitor for our June 2012 ‘In The Window’ exhibition.

With over 40 years experience in the field, Jane’s work combines traditional ideas of handbuilding, burnishing and smoke firing.
Each composition is hand built from a mixture of porcelain and stoneware clay using a combination of coiling, press molding and slabbing processes with organic material mixed in the clay that burns out during firing before being inlaid with contrasting colours. Perryman uses a broad range of firing techniques; smoking, saggar and open firing. Jane has exhibited across the world and combines her studio work with writing publications including her investigations into Traditional Pottery of India and Smoke Firing Contemporary Artists & Approaches, both published by A&C Black.

Entry to the exhibition is free! The exhibition continues until 30th June 2012.
