Arena Studios is doing something different with their gallery space for the next few months. Arena artists can book a two week gallery slot to use the space in any way they want. This includes offering invites to others to use the space.
Arena member Josie Jenkins has invited the artist Colette Lilley, to undertake a mini residency in the space from 27 April. Colette is a practicing visual artist based in Liverpool. She gained a Masters in art and design practice at Loughborough University, exploring the creative process, a theme she continues today.
In 2013 she co-founded and currently co-directs 104 Duke Street Studio, an artist’s studios based in Liverpool city centre. Colette has exhibited throughout the country and was selected to work on the Tate Modern project From Morning till Night, Katherina Sede, 2011. Colette recently featured on Axis Spotlight as one of five artists to watch in Liverpool’s Biennal 2014.
Colette has been invited to draw directly onto the gallery walls. She says that through the process she will be ‘Learning to see; exploring the use of observational drawing as a tool for meditation and presence.”
