We are working towards a Board that is representative of the diversity of 21st century Britain, and that more closely reflects the diverse communities we work with and alongside. A personal love of the arts and learning is fundamental; as is a commitment to inclusion. At this time in our organisational journey, we’re particularly interested in hearing from people with skills, knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Project management preferably in a capital build context
• Change Management
• People who reflect the diversity of our community, particularly people with disabilities and/or from a BAME background
• Human Resources
• General legal / charity law
What difference will you make?
Within the progressive cultural landscape of Manchester; we’ve recently increased our NPO funding by 100% and gained charitable status; we’re ready to take on a future of possibilities. As we evolve we need trustees who can further develop relationships in our city, deepen our key partnerships, ensure governance excellence and bring vibrancy and energy to the organisation.
You will diversify our board skillset and enable us to strive towards a capital redevelopment, to tackle the immediate challenges of the retail environment and to shape our future within in the city.
What commitment is expected?
− Attendance at board meetings – currently 4-6 per year (including AGM & Resident Maker Q&A), with a commitment of 75% attendance
− Willingness to join subcommittees/working groups, meeting approx. 4 times per year (in addition to board meetings)
− Attendance at MCAD exhibition launches wherever possible
− Be an advocate and ambassador for MCAD
− Trustees serve for a maximum term of six years (or eight if elected as Chair).
− Candidates must have the right to work in the UK
− Trustees are not paid, however opportunities for personal development will be available
− Previous trustee experience, whilst beneficial, is not essential as support and mentoring is available for new trustees
