The Wales Contemporary International Open Competition was developed by the Waterfront Gallery in South Wales, with support from the Welsh Government. We invite artists to submit work that is Inspired by Wales – its ancient history, art history, heritage, landscape (rural, urban or political) and contemporary culture. Artists from anywhere in the world can enter up to three works, 2D or 3D, in any medium apart from photography or film.

Artworks must be for sale. Sale prices should be inclusive of 30% commission. Entry fee £15 for one work, £25 for two and £34 for three.

Prizes include:

  • 1st prize £4,000
  • Highly commended £2,000
  • Young Artist Prize £1,000
  • Prize for artists born, educated or resident in Wales £1,000
  • Public choice £1,000.
