“Reflections from the Estuary” from Wales to the Wirral, a journey in texture by Ronnie Drillsma
“Whether it is a Welsh hill top or a forgotten boat on the Dee Estuary, each scene reveals its own mix of wonderful textures. I try to re-create these textures in my paintings using Acrylics and a roller.
Rolling the paint creates a unique effect every time, I also use sponges, cards, papers, sharpened sticks (rarely a brush) anything that will make a mark and add to the distressed quality I am trying to achieve. I enjoy experimenting, always trying to gain new effects. I don’t want my paintings to look contrived, I’d like to hold the viewers attention for a little longer!”
