The School of Digital Arts (SODA) is our response to, and an investment in, screen-based business and technologies. It will create a digital skills powerhouse that will host a diverse programme of degree apprenticeships, continuing professional development, work-based training, undergraduate and postgraduate courses and resources.
We are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate as the first ever Deputy Head of School of Digital Arts, with the requisite ambition of approach, industry driven outlook and multi-disciplinary mind-set to match the passion and drive that has gathered behind this venture. This will initially be a rotational role, with a four year tenure as Deputy Head (likely to be extended to two terms), which will sit alongside the substantive Reader or Professor post (dependant on profile).
This high profile position creates the opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and wholly engaged individual to work across a span of academic and industry programmes – with a regional, national and international impact. This post will foster and deliver innovative teaching, leading effective programmes and encouraging further industry support, co-designing curriculum and ensuring the highest quality teaching standards throughout the School.
The new Deputy Head will play a crucial role in enabling Greater Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University to become one of the worlds’ leading hubs for creativity and digital innovation.
We will therefore need you to have a strong academic record and standing in teaching, along with specialist knowledge that will build on our expertise in digital arts such as; animation, filmmaking, gaming, sound, design, UX and photography.
The closing date for applications is 4th March 2020.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a formal interview and presentation on Thursday 26th March 2020.
This is an exciting and significant role so naturally you may have questions about this appointment and our strategy. To arrange an informal discussion, please contact D.OHara@mmu.ac.uk or click on the apply link below:
