Salford City Council is seeking an experienced freelance project manager to oversee the monitoring and delivery of the Salford Culture and Place Partnership’s ‘The City is the Venue’ programme from Jan – July 2025.
‘The City is the Venue’ is funded by Arts Council England as a Place Partnership Fund programme. The project began in October 2023 and the activity will conclude by October 2026.
The project manager will work with the activity delivery partners to manage and co-ordinate delivery of the three key programme strands outlined in Arts Council England’s Place Partnership Fund: Green & Blue Placemaking (working in parks & gardens); Urban Placemaking (We Invented the Weekend festival + ‘Sounds ‘Round Town’ music tours); and Make It In Salford (upskilling & supporting Salford-based creatives including through UK Shared Prosperity Fund grants for community-led creative events).
The Project Manager will be paid a fixed fee of £9600 based on an estimate of two days per week (@ £200 per 8 hour day) over the contract period.
Job Requirements
- Strong planning and project management skills with a minimum of three years’ experience in an arts/culture setting
- Experience of developing and managing partnerships
- Experience of budget management and reporting
- Commitment to best practice across a range of areas including diversity and inclusion
The Contractor will:
- Work with the external evaluation consultant to develop, manage and implement the evaluation plan – including ensuring systems and processes are in place
- Work with the Communications Officer to support the development and delivery of the marketing, communications and digital plan – to promote, and raise the profile of the work – accessing specialists as and when required
- Act as an advocate for the programme, attending events and meetings, as and when required and encouraging partners to attend one another’s events
- Monitor project budgets and cashflow, and ensure financial reporting is carried out
- Ensure project delivery embodies best practice for example in relation to creative ambition, inclusivity, diversity and anti-racism.
There may be other responsibilities commensurate with the project’s evolving needs.
