Your challenge:
The Comics Declassified Project Coordinator role is integral to the success of the Comics Declassified initiative, a transformative training and development program co-produced with the Comics Cultural Impact Collective (CCIC). The successful candidate will work across the core components of the program, supporting marginalised early-career creators aged 16–30 to overcome barriers and develop sustainable careers in the comics industry. The postholder will work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays, to meet the needs of participants.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Hybrid Masterclasses: Support the planning and delivery of a 10-month series of hybrid Masterclasses, covering essential industry topics such as crowdfunding, micro-publishing, intellectual property management, and navigating representation. The coordinator will provide practical support during sessions and ensure materials are accessible online.
- Outreach across Merseyside: Deliver monthly face-to-face surgeries at libraries and museums in Priority Places, engaging economically disadvantaged and geographically isolated creators.
- 1-2-1 and Group Work: Facilitate tailored mentoring sessions and drop-in clinics, offering guidance on storytelling, comics creation, and professional development.
- Archiving and Accessibility: Ensure Masterclasses and resources are archived in an accessible format on both the CCIC and Comics Youth websites, allowing participants and wider audiences to revisit the content as needed.
- Community Engagement: Act as a point of contact for participants, building relationships with local stakeholders and partners to maximise the programme’s reach and impact.
Secondment to CCIC
For x3 days per month, the postholder will be seconded to the Comics Cultural Impact Collective (CCIC) to contribute to its digital presence and resource development. This will include:
- Archiving Comics Declassified Masterclasses and supplementary materials in an accessible format on the CCIC website.
- Developing content that highlights transparent pathways into the comics industry.
- Supporting CCIC’s broader mission to foster equity, representation, and opportunity within the comics sector.
