Youth Programme Assistant, The Hepworth Wakefield

£17,500 Pro rata, 3 days per week (including every Friday)

We are seeking an experienced Youth Programme Assistant to coordinate and deliver our Integrated Youth Programme, working with young people ages 16-25 who are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET).

The Hepworth Wakefield’s Learning Programme supports the region’s children to enjoy and benefit of the gallery and its collection from a young age. Crucially, it provides a continuous learning journey from early years to school, through to adolescence and adulthood supported by our coordinated Family, Schools, and Adult Learning Programmes.

The Integrated Youth Programme is a pilot project working in partnership with key, local youth and education providers and young people ages 16-25 who are at risk of becoming, or are already classified as not in education, employment or training (NEET). The project aims to increase young people’s motivation to participate and succeed, and significantly raise their aspirations and enable them to follow clear pathways into training and education. The programme comprises of weekly drop-in sessions (Fridays) with freelance Creative Practitioners, extended courses over 3-6 weeks and work experience placements

The Youth Programme Assistant will liaise with freelance Creative Practitioners, project partners, gallery staff and local youth providers to support young people to engage with the project, and to identify progression opportunities both within the project and with project partners.

This role will also be responsible for the administration of the Arts Award and for maximising opportunities for young people to engage with the awards.

If you are passionate about working with vulnerable and at-risk young people, have excellent interpersonal skills and strong experience of using art as an engagement tool with young people, we are keen to hear from you.
