Technician – Sound & ICT, LIPA Sixth Form College


37.5 hrs per week, 42 weeks per year

£17,467 – £20,745 p.a.

This will be a dual role within the Sixth Form College.

Firstly, you will assist the Sixth Form Management Team in supporting curriculum delivery for staff and students including specialist technical support in Sound and demonstration of equipment for classes and performances across a range of courses e.g. Acting, Dance, Music and Production Arts.  You will also be involved in the supervision, maintenance and booking of equipment.

Secondly, you will assist with the installation, maintenance and support of computer software and equipment generally across the College, resolving identified technical problems and undertaking general tasks which will promote the use of ICT across the College.

For the technician role, you will have a level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, together with a good working knowledge of live sound.  Ideally you will hold a degree, however this is not essential.  You will have experience working in a technical capacity in a theatre and events environment.  A working knowledge of audio editing/playout software such as Pro tools, Logic, QLab and Apple Macintosh systems would be advantageous.

For the ICT role, you will ideally have recent and relevant experience of solving problems surrounding networks, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, e-mail and security software. You will have a good working knowledge of operating systems and common applications, PC components and computer peripherals.

Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks are also essential for these roles.  You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a structured approach to problem solving.
