Security Operatives, FACT

We are looking for two energetic, hardworking security operatives who have a proven track record of safeguarding a client’s property and assets against acts of theft, fire, flood and vandalism.

You must be able to hold good order on site whilst working for various service providers and users. The security operatives are expected to work within the building’s procedural guidelines and also ensure a high quality of service is consistently maintained with optimum efficiency.

This role requires a valid SIA licence and Emergency First Aid certificate at the time of applying. Due to the public facing nature of this role, we will also require the post holder to have an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check – which the company will pay for.

DELIVERABLES / EXPECTATIONS

  • 24 hours (two 12 hour shifts) across an 8-day period,
    offered on a rota basis and communicated in advance. The days of
    the week are not fixed over the 8-day period and will involve
    weekend and evening work as standard.
  • Creating a safe and comfortable working environment for employees, visitors and service users.
  • Patrolling the public areas for periods of time, making sure we are operating securely to detect and prevent disturbances and offences on site.
  • Answer alarms and respond to emergency situations as they arise.
  • Directing emergency vehicles & other traffic external to the building if a major incident occurs.
  • Accurately reporting all incidents to a log and to the Operations Manager, producing a timely written report if appropriate.
  • Keep logs of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorised persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Monitoring and operating CCTV cameras and other recording systems.
  • Undertaking investigations into reports of offences.
  • Using the correct radio voice procedure and keeping good communication between FACT Liverpool, and our tenants Picturehouse and the Cafe.
  • Escorting individuals off the premises when appropriate.
  • Liaising with the emergency services, police, ambulance and fire service to resolve issues where appropriate.
  • Checking and validating business visitor credentials.
  • Making sure that no unauthorised personnel enter restricted areas.

ELIGIBILITY

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience of working within a public building
  • Valid SIA Licence and Emergency First Aid certificate
  • Basic Health & Safety knowledge with a willingness to train in this area
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Computer literate – this can be a basic level followed by a willingness to train

DESIRABLE (NOT ESSENTIAL) SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Health and safety qualification/training or working knowledge
  • Security work in an arts organisation or free public venue
