Creative Producer, Paperwork Theatre

We are Paperwork Theatre

We create bold theatre and events which are joyful, playful and full of humanity, staged in traditional theatres, unusual places, and community owned spaces. We are theatre makers, living, working and creating in the North West where we champion artistic excellence whilst maintaining a national outlook, working with established and emerging artists from across the UK.

Our work is delivered across 3 core strands: Theatre, Community & Artist Opportunities and is created in response to the question “what does the world need right now?”

We exist to:

  • Create theatre which pushes boundaries, experiments with new ideas and strives to encourage people from all walks of life to access arts.
  • Support our community’s health & wellbeing by inspiring human connection and providing opportunities for self expression.
  • Champion North West talent & improve career pathways for local artists and the freelance community.

We’re a female led organisation, committed to improving the working lives of women through creativity. We champion freelance creatives and are committed to improving working practices and opportunities for creatives through employment, training and development opportunities.

We have an Advisory Board who meet four times per year and feed into our strategic planning, made up of professionals from across Retail, Government, NHS, Higher Education, Community and Library sectors. Our Advisory board holds us to account, supports our vision and advises us on best practices.

We host a Community Panel twice per year, anyone who has taken part in a production, project or event as staff, audiences or as a participant in the previous 12 months is encouraged to attend. These events allow us to connect with local people, understand the needs of our community and plan the projects they would like to take part in- its a vital way for local people to connect with us and shape what we do.

We’re a small company with huge ambition and in 2024, Paperwork Theatre turns 10!

We’re celebrating with the creation of a new immersive production which will take place in Liverpool, Knowsley and Chester this Summer. The content is under wraps for now but we can say it will be highly interactive, take place across multiple locations and blend live performance, technology, horror and comedy in a quest to save the world.

We’re in the middle of a research and development phase for a new play with music called Shattered with a 5 day R&D and sharing event planned at Shakespeare North Playhouse in Autumn.

We’ll also be launching two new community projects including a 12 month programme to support women through creative practices.
