Course Lead – Creative Art and Fashion, Hugh Baird College

Job Title: Course Leader

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Course Leader within the Creative Industries section of the Art and Fashion department. As a Course Leader, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure successful learner outcomes and maximise the potential of every student to progress to their chosen destination.

Key Responsibilities

Teach students enrolled in a range of courses as assigned by your line manager

– Implement appropriate feedback and assessment systems to accurately check learning, adapting teaching as required to ensure learner progress

– Operate within the Quality Assurance framework

– Manage courses or parts of courses as required, including administration and organization

– Contribute to curriculum innovation, development, and implementation

– Maintain a professional learning environment in the classroom consistently implementing the College’s behaviour management processes as required

– Provide managers with accurate, timely, and up-to-date written and verbal reports about the performance of your curriculum

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Possess a minimum of a relevant Level 3 vocational qualification
  • Possess a PGCE/Certificate of education or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Possess sufficient breadth and/or depth of specialist knowledge to lead the curriculum provision and teach on programmes in the area.
  • Track record of successful teaching experience across a range of levels including up to level 3
  • Recent industry-related experience relevant to the academic discipline
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant course subject matter and examination and assessment requirements
  • Understanding of value added and the use of progress performance measures
  • Experience of developing and maintaining external partnerships to enrich teaching and learning. 
  • Ability to motivate, support and lead the work of a curriculum team co-ordinating effort to meet Key Performance Indicators
