We now have an exciting opportunity for an outstanding Content Creator to take our online content to the next level – with a focus on creating engaging and inspiring videos that tell our stories via a range of digital channels.
You’ll be telling the stories of all of the amazing things that take place at the zoo. This magical place is always a hive of activity.
The role:
Do you want to be in one of the most exciting jobs in content creation, sharing stories with an audience of millions? Are you an expert video editor with a real flair for both the creative and technical aspects of this work? Do you have experience of creating engaging and inspiring content for a major brand? Can you elevate our content and tell compelling stories to our varied audiences across our various channels? The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Produce and edit high quality and impactful short-form visual content, combining technical content creation skills with a specialist knowledge of how to adapt content to specific channels to drive engagement and grow online communities.
- To provide new strategic insights and ideas for our short-form social media channels, which reach large, international and diverse audiences. The role is responsible for the ongoing social media channel management for Chester Zoo and delivering expect knowledge and guidance in this area across the wider zoo teams.
- Craft content for a range of channels including organic and paid social media; press and broadcast media; and marketing platforms (such as the zoo’s website, e-newsletters and digital members’ magazine). There is joint management of a Junior Creative to assist in this area.
- Working in a timely matter to the weekly briefs set out by the PR Manager, while also seeking to identify other impactful stories from across the zoo, working with a variety of stakeholders to develop the conservation work we do into compelling online content.
- Help develop and deliver robust and measurable brand and social media campaigns and gather insights from our social media tracking tool that can be used to better our content and online engagement. Make priorities and decisions and help to support teams across a host of departments, including marketing, science and conservation and commercial initiatives.
- Monitor and participate in social media conversations as the eyes, ears and voice of the zoo to help provide the very best service to over 2 million social followers.
- Develop relationships with our field programme partners and freelancers across the world to gather and create content to tell the stories of our global conservation work.
The successful candidate will have:
- Expert shooting, video editing and content creation skills using Adobe Creative Suite and programs such as Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects and Photoshop (or equivalents).
- Expert knowledge of producing content for a range of channels, with a track record of generating high levels of engagement among large online and social communities.
- Excellent visual storytelling skills.
- Proven experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced content creator role that delivers content to multiple channels on a daily/ weekly basis.
- A relevant degree in media, communications and filmmaking, or a proven track record of success working in a similar role.
- The ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues from across all departments.
The Package:
You will be working 5 a days a week, predominately 8:30am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. We will consider contracted hours of 35 – 40 hours per week. Weekend and evening working may sometimes be needed to cover production requirements, for which time in lieu will be provided. You’ll be telling the stories of all of the amazing things that take place at the zoo. Much of the role will see you based at the Zoo. However, there is flex for some hybrid working (i.e. should you need to spend time editing, for example).
- Permanent contract
- £34,711.57 based on 40 hours per week.
