The 21st Knowsley Open Art Exhibition is an opportunity for artists of all ages who either live, work, study or volunteer in the borough of Knowsleyto display up to two pieces of their work in Kirkby Gallery.
There are no restrictions about the medium, subject or style of art – painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, collage, textiles – it only has to have mirror plates affixed to it so it can be screwed to the wall, and be no larger than 1.2m x 1.2m.
It is free to enter the 21st Knowsley Open Art Exhibition.
There is no selection panel – it is a truly open Open, and the level of creativity and talent in Knowsley is always staggering.

Artwork Hand-in Days at Kirkby Gallery
Tuesday 17 December, 10.00am to 4.30pm
Thursday 19Â December, 10.00am to 4.30pm
Saturday 21 December, 10.00am to 12.30pm
Artists have the option of offering their artwork for sale if they so wish, with no commission fees.
Donations to the Friends of Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum are welcomed.
Artists and buyers must collect their artwork from Kirkby Gallery after the exhibition has ended, on one of the three specified days:

Friday 25 April 2025, 10.00am to 4.30pm
Saturday 26 April 2025, 10.00am to 12.30pm
We encourage submissions from young artists attending our local schools, and this year, we have 11 prizes of £20 for the young artists with the highest number of public votes. These prizes come courtesy of the support of Edge Hill University. The young entrants will have their own dedicated private view on Saturday 18 January, and the exhibition will open to the public on Monday 20 January. |
Schools which are Friends of Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum can receive 10 free picture frames in which to display pupils’ work. |
