Cheshire East Council, on behalf of Crewe Place Partnership Consortium, seek to appoint a socially engaged artist / arts organisation to conceptualise and deliver an exciting creative engagement project in July and August 2025.
Job Description
We are seeking innovative ideas to bring to life a ‘cardboard cities’ style project engaging people in Crewe creatively with reusing and recycling, and connections to sustainable futures and climate action. This will be delivered in collaboration with https://crewemakes.com/about-us – CreweCreates CIC who operate the town centre Crewe//Makes Artspace and support local artists and volunteers.
An inclusive fee should be proposed to cover all costs such as travel/parking, materials, artists planning and delivery time.
Budget available £10,000- £15,000.
Indicative anticipated time commitment for workshops element:
7 days/14 half days – in July, split across school and community groups (adults / older people)
2 days 30th July & 1st August – transforming the Crewe//Makes Artspace to resonate with the activity
12 days 2nd – 30th August 10am – 2pm
Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays at Artspace (excluding Monday 25th August)

Job Responsibilities
This creative project could include ideas around reimaging the town / ‘future cities’ or reference place heritage, using sustainable materials to create temporary structures.
The project should engage people of all ages in creative place making activity exploring curating space with Crewe residents, how the town centre feels, experiences of new communities, communities’ interest in key Crewe landmarks, with the potential to juxtapose different building types and buildings from different ages.
