Volunteer Exhibition Assistant – This Is Shanghai – Open Eye Gallery

VOLUNTEER EXHIBITION ASSISTANT – THIS IS SHANGHAI

July – September 2018

This summer, as part of the city’s China Dream season, we are proud to present an exhibition of cutting edge contemporary Chinese art that celebrates Liverpool’s strong relationship with our twin city, Shanghai.

This Is Shanghai is an exhibition of work by leading and emerging contemporary artists from Shanghai, reflecting on the urban and cultural transformation of the city.

Culture Liverpool in partnership with Open Eye Gallery are welcoming a fresh team of people to help enhance the visitor experience.

Volunteers will play a key role in the day to day running of the exhibition space, making it a welcoming and friendly environment. No previous experience or specialist knowledge is required, as full training will be provided. All we ask for is commitment, an interest in art, and, above all, a willingness to be the face of This Is Shanghai for the public.

Your duties will include greeting and directing visitors around the exhibition, helping visitors to engage with the exhibition by providing background information on the artworks, and invigilating the gallery spaces.

In return for your time you’ll gain work experience and develop your skills, as well as the chance to improve your career prospects through networking, and a valuable insight into an art gallery setting, all while working with a great team of like-minded people.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to £7.50 per day. We ask for a commitment of 1 day per week, 9:45 am – 5:15 pm (7.5 hours, with a 30 minute lunch break).
