Youth Dance Coordinator, The Lowry

Youth Dance Coordinator
37.5 hours per week, £17,000-£19,000 p.a. dependent upon experience plus staff benefits. Fixed-term contract until August 2016.

The Lowry is an internationally acclaimed cultural landmark situated at the heart of MediaCityUK, one of the world’s most exciting culture and media destinations.

The Lowry’s Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) is funded by the Department of Education’s Music and Dance Scheme and offers access to high quality pre-vocational dance training for young people from across the North West.

Established in 2009, The Lowry CAT ensured that each sub-region of England had access to such specialist training. Since the scheme’s development, The Lowry CAT has been able to contribute to the broader dance ecology and works alongside the National Dance CATs and other Youth Dance Networks to ensure that the training and nurturing offered is reflective of the industry whilst continuing to respond to current knowledge, research and aesthetics of dance training at this level. The Lowry CAT retains an annual cohort of approximately 60 to 65 students aged between 12-18 years of age.

We are looking for a Youth Dance Coordinator to work closely with the CAT Manager to provide a full range of administrative, project and pastoral support towards the operational delivery of the CAT scheme and NorthWestDance and students, parents/guardians.

You will have experience of working in dance in an arts/educational organisation in a similar capacity and experience of devising and implementing projects in dance, arts, charity, youth and/or education sectors. An up-to-date knowledge of good practice in dance education and training, excellent organisational and administrative skills are essential. An understanding of nurturing young creative dance artists, the ability to assess and articulate young peoples’ progress, artistic progress & quality is required.
