Liverpool is a major location for film and media productions from around the world. In 2018 the area welcomed 366 projects over 1,387 filming days; an average of four projects filming in the area every day.

The Liverpool Screen School is located at the heart of this activity and delivers an expanding programme of courses within the disciplines of media, film, journalism, the performing arts and creative writing. We maintain strong industry links both locally and across the UK. Our alumni working in industry maintain their relationships with the School and actively engage with our students.

Our technical facilities offer industry-standard production equipment, a range of rehearsal and performance studios for TV, radio, drama and dance, along with post-production suites and newsrooms. The TV studios are part of the six-year-old Redmonds Building and are professionally equipped with Sony cameras and vision switchers, Editshare and Geevs media management systems, and ETC lighting systems. They are also available for commercial hire outside of scheduled teaching activity.

We need an experienced studio operator/broadcast engineer to lead the operation of our TV studios and a small team of technician/instructors. You will know how to operate a TV studio, and also how to reconfigure and improve it as required. You will have a passion for new technology and be responsive to the evolving needs of the Screen School. You will also understand how to nurture the professional development of yourself and your team.

You will work in partnership with the Technical Resource Manager, and as part of a broader technical team. You will also contribute to the planning and delivery of technical support for the School’s public events, exhibitions and conferences.

This post is full-time, 35 hours a week, typically Monday to Friday, but you will be required to undertake occasional evening and weekend work, in order to support the business needs of the School and Faculty.

Informal enquiries may be made to the Technical Resource Manager, Darcy O’Bree,
