We’re looking for an experienced, dynamic, creative and energetic Festival Director, with a track record of successfully managing innovative festivals and generating income.
The first Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival took place in October 2013 and has grown in size and popularity since. The Festival provides opportunities for all members of the community to share or discover a passion for reading, writing and thinking, aiming to appeal to those who do not normally engage with the Arts. We are now looking for a Festival Director to continue, plan, deliver and monitor the success of the Festival, plus a range of ongoing activities throughout the year, which will appeal to all ages and members of Rochdale’s diverse communities.
The Festival is part funded by the Maskew Bequest, a sum of money gifted to establish, maintain and promote a collection of classic literature and philosophy at Rochdale Central Library. We have successfully applied for funding from the Arts Council to extend the reach of the festival to encompass the Arts and engage young people.
You will have strong commissioning and project management experience, knowledge of income generation/sponsorship and a good understanding of audience development.
