Project Worker – Writing on the Wall

Writing on the Wall are looking for a Project Worker to provide support to WoW’s Co-Directors, Programme Manager, staff team and Trustees. The Project Worker will work directly alongside freelance artists to implement and support the development of WoW’s Projects, supervised directly by the Programme Manager or the relevant Project Manager. The post holder will be required to work on projects including Super Heroes: Words are our Power, What’s Your Story?, Write to Work, WoWFest and other upcoming commissions. The post holder will also support the development of WoW’s social networks, WoW’s public profile and help implement marketing strategies to link WoW’s festival, projects and other events to WoW’s social networks, and to promote WoW’s projects/events through its social networks.

Project Worker
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £18,000
Accountable to: Writing on the Wall’s Programme Manager
Main working contacts: Staff and trustees of Writing on the Wall, freelance staff, partners, project participants, schools, school pupils and young people.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Work
• Office administrative duties including greeting guests, answering the telephone, checking on info emails, ordering office supplies, sending out postage and making sure the office presentable etc
• Provide administrative and clerical support to Project Manager for relevant projects
• To liaise with contracted freelancers/writers and teachers prior to sessions, ensuring they have the project overview, check if they require any materials/tech or audio assistance and to continue to do so throughout the duration of the project.
• Support overseeing delivery of all workshops and sessions, ensuring workshop space is set up and relevant materials are printed. Some session planning may be included
• Coordinating the work of the project participants (including school children), ensuring support needs are met and they are fully engaged in project activities.
• Co-ordinating and supporting creation of anthologies, making sure all submissions are saved in the correct location and update project spreadsheet.
• Liaise with participants, writers and partners to have all the required work, introduction, forward and blurb completed and sent to us by the agreed deadline.
• Send out manuscript to the editors liaising with them throughout the process and making sure the manuscript is back with WoW at the agreed deadline.
• Co-ordinating book launches including creating press releases, booking venues, booking catering, ensuring participants have the correct relevant information, sending out invites etc.
• To answer basic enquiries about WoW’s work and to maintain contact with other related organisations so that information is up to date.
• Creating relevant projects packs and schedules
• Support ongoing evaluation of projects.

Festival & WoW Events
• Ordering festival supplies for the entire festival and making sure event supplies are replenished throughout the festival.
• Working to support the Project Managers and organisation of festival and other events – booking speakers, venues, etc.
• Attending and supporting the smooth running of events
• Working with WoW staff to provide marketing information for publicity
• Collating and disseminating information prior to and following events
• Collating monitoring and evaluation data and updating WoW databases

Social Media
• Supporting Social Media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities
• Curate relevant content to reach targeted audiences.
• Monitor WoW’s Social network platforms
• Develop and expand community and/or blogger outreach efforts.
• Be a WoW advocate in Social Media spaces, engage in dialogue and answer questions where appropriate.
• Monitor trends in Social Media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
• Creating relevant web content and copy to keep online platforms up to date
