About the Role
The core purpose of the Lancashire Museum Service is:
To collect and preserve Lancashire’s diverse heritage and to make it accessible to everyone through high quality cultural experiences.

Key Accountabilities
Based at the Lancashire Conservation Studios in Preston you will lead the technical support team providing high quality practical and logistical support for the various activities across the Museum Service. This will include work on the implementation, production and movement of the Museum Service exhibitions, displays & public programmes and to contribute to the construction of new permanent museum galleries. Combined with this you will contribute to the income generation of the Museum Service through external project work including estimating in all aspects of museum technical work. A excellent understanding of Health & safety both within the technical workshops and the public galleries is vital.

Skills and Experience

Essential Qualifications
HND qualification in Craft Skill or equivalent

Essential Experience
Experience in a supervisory role
Ability to work to a high standard in a range materials including metals, wood, & acrylic
Experience in the preparation of costed estimates for programmes of work on museum objects
Ability to interpret and work to specifications and technical drawings

Desirable Experience
Experience of working in a museum and handling museum collections
Experience of dealing with the public
