We are looking for an experienced, driven and dynamic marketing officer to work freelance promoting the upcoming Queer Media Festival nationally. The festival celebrates LGBT+ stories in all mediums with an annual festival through in-conversations, films, performances and workshops. The festival is based in Manchester and using their knowledge of the local LGBT+ community and media event landscape, the Marketing Officer will be responsible for delivering a grassroots campaign that engages and raises awareness nationally and within the local community beyond traditional LGBT+ festival audiences.

Liasing closely with the Festival Director the Marketing Oficer will determine the requirements for digital, online, radio, TV and print publicity for the Queer Media Festival to drive audience development. This is a freelance position send your CV to jamie@queermedia.org.uk.

Person Specification

  • Deliver assigned marketing activities that meet the overall objectives, within agreed timelines and budgets
  • Manage and deliver copywriting requirements through newsletters, email campaigns, brochures and other communication channels in line with the team requirements
  • Update the queermedia.org.uk website and produce the printed programme for the festival
  • Demonstrable understanding of and passion for LGBT events, ideally with some level of experience of working within cinema, film festival or wider media industry
  • Demonstrable experience in an equivalent marketing role, within a marketing team
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and delivering marketing programmes for film, media or arts initiatives in either an exhibitor or festival environment
  • Look for new opportunities to grow audience numbers
  • Ensure that all marketing materials are designed and implemented effectively
  • Undertake specific segmented marketing tactics, to reach specific audience groups of relevance to the festival’s media content
  • Generate and manage the online content for digital channels including the core website and social media channels
  • Supporting the delivery of PR and media activities, such as the planning of press screenings and the publication of press releases
  • Report on, and analyse, sales figures and digital channel traffic
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong critical and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy including word processing, spread sheet, database and WordPress
