Barra Culture is looking to appoint an exceptional individual, to be an integral part of the cultural change in Barrow-in-Furness. Barra Culture is one of 12 Creative People & Places (CPP) projects recently awarded funding by Arts Council England. CPP is a national initiative that aims to increase the number of people choosing, creating and taking part in brilliant art experiences in the places where they live, particularly where evidence shows that people are less involved in arts and cultural activities than elsewhere in England.
You will be committed to the arts and ready for new challenge in the Barrow area as a marketing, communications and audience development professional with at least two years industry experience. You will be responsible for marketing a wide range of events, exhibitions, residences, commissions, performances and associated activities.
You will have first class digital media skills, and a keen eye for design. You will enjoy writing and combining engaging copy with innovative use of media to appeal to all audiences. Multitasking and collaborative working will be second nature to you, as will forming new relationships with both internal staff and external colleagues. You will also enjoy making connections with key individuals amongst wider networks in the area, with partners across different sectors including Barrow Arts Group, The Forum, Barrow Town Council and others to work collaboratively to promote Barrow’s artistic offer.
You will need to evidence the capacity to develop a social media strategy and create innovative marketing campaigns to communicate, engage with and develop audiences from a huge range of backgrounds in Barrow. You will be familiar with using different channels to market to different groups of people, from face-to-face relationship building, to social media campaigns, to posters, flyers and PR.
Salaried, Full-time: 37 hours per week, fixed term for 1 year initially. Beyond year 1, the contract will be reissued dependent on funding.
Salary: £19,500 per annum FTE.
The position will be based in the office of Women’s Community Matters, within the Nan Tait Centre in Barrow-in-Furness.
