Makers Technical Manager

Arts, Creative, Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Print

Manchester Met University are recruiting a Makers Technical Manager. The successful applicant will play a fundamental role in leading and managing the Makers facilities and associated technical team. The Makers teams are part of the prestigious Manchester School of Art within the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and include such specialisms as; Print, Wood & Metal as well as Ceramics, Glass and Computer Aided Manufacturing. The Faculty is ambitious and forward looking, its ambition supported by a bold and creative and estates strategy including two new build projects namely the School of Digital Arts and a New Arts and Humanities Building.

The right person

You will have excellent organisation skills with an understanding of the creative aspects of the Makers area. You could be an expert in one or more of the specialist areas, or you have demonstrable ability to inspire and motivate teams in a relevant setting and have a passion to apply your skills in an Art School setting. You will be a proactive and innovative individual who is capable of delivering novel and new ways of working to continuously improve the service we deliver with particular focus on the student experience. Above all, we are looking for creative individuals who can effectively manage and implement resources and provide leadership to a multi-skilled and talented group of technical staff; Someone with a strong commitment to delivering a quality service to staff and students across the organisation.
