The programmes we use to do this are wide-ranging and cover the arts, education, English, science and society.
In the Literature team we use our connections and understanding of the UK contemporary literature sector to advise and support our international colleagues on working with literature within cultural relations programmes and provide a link to the UK. Together we develop projects to encourage showcasing, collaboration and professional exchange.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Literature Programme Manager to provide specialist support to British Council offices overseas to ensure the development, implementation and management of high-quality, strategic literature programmes which meet specific regional requirements and support the British Council’s cultural relations objectives
We require the successful candidate to:
- Work with British Council colleagues around the world to gather local intelligence and identify opportunities to develop an effective and quality strategic programme, appropriate to local context and requirements.
- Be able to make critical judgments and use knowledge of the diversity and strengths of the UK literature sector to develop cultural relations programmes. Reading widely, representing the British Council at external events and continuing strong relationships with individuals and organisations in the sector is key.
- Develop and maintain relationships with UK professionals in this area, understand developments and opportunities and share information internally and externally to contribute to the development and enhancement of new and existing literature programmes.
