As Head of Learning for SIM, you will play a key part in implementing and delivering our new ten-year Learning Strategy, with an audience-centred, collaborative and agile approach. Your programmes will engage visitors with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) inspired by our world-class collection and expertise and based on our extensive learning and audience research.
You will play a key role in the Leadership team, contributing to strategic and business planning to help shape the Museum’s future. You’ll lead the team to enrich the lives of a large and diverse audience by igniting their curiosity in science with high quality, innovative and stimulating programmes, festivals and learning events. You will create and develop new ways to engage audiences and will build relationships with partners of all kinds, including schools, universities, funding bodies, industry and local business, whilst also extending our reach to new communities. As part of the collaboration with the wider Learning team, you will also spearhead the ongoing development and implementation of the new SMG learning strategy (2020-2030) across key areas Group-wide, including festivals, events, schools and STEM.
Joining us,you’ll have experience of people and project management, with the ability to lead, influence, motivate and coach team members. You’ll have experience of leading and evaluating informal learning programmes for a variety of audiences, and will have successfully contributed learning and audience insight to the development of programmes. You’ll be a passionate and persuasive communicator; able to listen to a wide range of viewpoints, resolve issues and make decisions in the context of the wider political, economic and social environment of informal education and learning. You’ll also be commercially minded, with experience of managing budgets and fundraising for learning activities.
