Customer Services. We are looking for a creative, community-focused person to lead the programming of events and contemporary art at the Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library in Preston.
The Harris is in the early stages of its Re-Imagining project to create a cultural hub at the heart of Preston. The Creative Programmer will maintain the Harris’ strong reputation as a beacon of high quality contemporary art in the North West, and ensure that our local communities – residents, universities, creative and cultural organisations – are integrated into the Harris programme as creators, participants and audiences.
You are a collaborative and organised team worker, able to plan and deliver a wide-ranging programme of activity at a cultural venue in partnership with others. You will identify opportunities for innovative artist involvement and community engagement throughout the Harris. You have a thorough knowledge of the contemporary arts sector, and will share your experience and passion with both staff and visitors through current and future partnership projects for commissioning and exhibiting artists.
You will work with the rest of the Harris team to champion the development of a creative, democratic, animated, and permeable cultural hub for Preston and Lancashire in our Grade 1 listed building. The Harris is run by Preston City Council and Lancashire County Council who are working towards a single museum, art gallery and library service for the whole building.
