Deafway Preston, in partnership with the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library, has secured ACE funding for a unique and exciting project to commission a new contemporary artwork that will represent the Deaf community. The artwork will be commissioned by a steering group of Deaf adults who use British Sign Language and who identify as culturally Deaf, with the support of a combined Deafway/Harris project team. This project will introduce a community led commissioning process to the Harris.
We are looking for a Freelance Contemporary Art Curator to work within this innovative partnership between Deafway Preston, the steering group and the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library, to facilitate the commissioning and display of the new artwork. You will be key in guiding the steering group through the commissioning process, sharing your extensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary visual art and high calibre, socially engaged artists.
This is a freelance position.
The fee is up to £4000 for around 15 days’ work (including expenses).
