Manchester International Festival (MIF) is the world’s first festival of original, new artistic work and special events, staged every two years throughout the city. Launched in 2007 as an artist-led event, MIF presents new works from across the spectrum of performing arts, visual arts and popular culture staged in diverse venues across Greater Manchester. The coming years will represent an exciting and transformative period for the organisation as MIF is also set to run The Factory, a world-class cultural venue being built in the heart of the city. The Factory will add 1,500 jobs to the city and over £1 billion to the city’s economy over the next decade, cementing Manchester’s reputation as a globally important cultural centre.
MIF now seeks a commercially-focused Executive Director to join our restructured Executive Team of John McGrath (Artistic Director and Chief Executive), Christine Cort (Managing Director), Fiona Gasper (Organisational Change Director) and Mark Ball (Creative Director). The post reports into the Chief Executive & Artistic Director and will function as Deputy Chief Executive. This is a key leadership role within the organisation driving commercial development, strategy and planning, venue leadership and overseeing MIF’s producing function. MIF’s new Executive Director will develop the vision to map out a new commercial landscape for MIF/The Factory and provide broader strategic, financial and operational leadership to the wider organisation. Candidates will be commercially minded, innovative, strategic and entrepreneurial, with an appetite for unusual and challenging projects. The post-holder will need strong financial acumen, proven leadership and management skills and come with a passion for what can be achieved through arts and cultural activities.
