In January 2016, the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded the Wordsworth Trust a development grant towards a new project, ‘Reimagining Wordsworth’. The grant puts the Wordsworth Trust on course to make profound and exciting changes to its site and activities in time to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Wordsworth’s birth in 2020.
The post holder will play a key role in the development phase of ‘Reimagining Wordsworth’. Working as part of the Curatorial and Learning Team, the Engagement Officer will develop and implement an activity plan to increase access and enjoyment of the Trust’s Designated collections, and to contribute to the learning and interpretation of these and related themes. Whilst the role will have a Cumbrian focus, the project seeks to introduce Wordsworth to people in the rest of the UK and beyond, identifying links with the poet worldwide.
The Engagement Officer will work closely with the Curator and Head of Learning during this transformational phase in the Trust’s history, and for the initial period with an Activity Consultant. This is a fixed-term post to 31 March 2018, the point at which the Wordsworth Trust expects to learn the outcome of its second-round HLF application. The Wordsworth Trust envisages that the post would be extended to March 2020 should this application be successful.
