Let’s Talk About Sex: 30 years of community activism in Greater Manchester

2017 is a milestone year for the history of sexual health awareness, marking 30 years of local organising and activism sparked by the AIDS crisis.

With funding from the Heritage Lottery, the LGBT Foundation’s Let’s Talk About Sex project is recording the video histories of people involved in campaigning on sexual health in Greater Manchester. These testimonies will be showcased in physical and online exhibits, and archived at Manchester Central Library.

An editor is needed to edit clips from the video histories to exhibit at the BFI Médiathèque in Manchester Central Library. Working with a co-director, there is also an opportunity to create a short film around project themes in a documentary or more experimental genre.

Applications are particularly welcome from filmmakers with an interest in the histories and activism of BME and LGBTQ+ communities. Please contact Mike Upton with some information about yourself (bio) and examples of recent work. Candidates will need to be available for an immediate start, with availability until the end of December.
