We’re looking for a Director of Operations and Finance to join our team. In this role you will work closely with the Chief Executive to manage the efficient and effective delivery of operations, and monitor, maintain and develop the organisation’s financial systems.
Contract Period: three years
Salary: £42,000 – 46,000 FTE (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Location: Hybrid – home working, with presence in the office at least one day per week
Holiday entitlement: 28 days plus bank holidays

About the role
The Director of Operations and Finance is a senior manager responsible for the provision of efficient and effective delivery of operations, including; HR administration, learning and development, health and safety compliance, ICT provision, and policy development and review. They are also responsible for monitoring, maintaining and developing efficient financial systems; and in setting up effective, reliable and legally compliant financial records and reports.
The Director Operations and Finance will act as Company Secretary, working closely with the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees. The Director of Operations and Finance also shares responsibility to contribute to improving access for people with protected characteristics to our workforce, governing body, audiences and wider stakeholders, and for ongoing organisational work focussed on care and well-being. A focus of our work at Heart of Glass is on environmental responsibility, and this role will be pivotal in driving this agenda across all areas of our operations.
The post requires reliability, initiative, confidentiality, attention to detail and close liaison with the Chief Executive and budget holders across the team, and key contractors.
Our ideal candidate
An experienced and knowledgeable leader from the cultural or third sector who has at least 4 years experience in a similar leadership role. You will have a sound understanding of charity accounting principles and robust knowledge of all areas of operational delivery for an organisation of our size. Our ideal candidate will have an inclusive leadership style and be able to demonstrate a flexible and innovative approach to overseeing our organisation’s financial and operational functions. You should also be able to demonstrate your passion for promoting a working culture grounded in collaboration, inclusiveness and have a track record in harnessing positive working across all levels of stakeholders from staff team, suppliers and freelancers, community stakeholders and funders.
