Deputy Stage Manager, Shakespeare North Playhouse

This is an Exiting opportunity, joint to the Shakespeare North Playhouse team as Deputy Stage Manager. This is a full-time, temporary contract, up to 48hrs, with a salary of £501.28 per week. In line with Equity and UK Theatre guidance.

Job Description

  • Deputising for other stage management roles in the event of absence.
  • Keeping cast and crew safe on stage.
  • Creating the prompt book where movements of all cast and crew on stage at any time so that a complete record of the show is kept in the event that a cast or crew member needs to be replaced.
  • Sending daily rehearsal reports to all creative team members communicating significant changes from the rehearsal room and points to be aware of.
  • Sending daily show reports to all creative team members communicating how that performance was received and any errors made during the show by cast or crew.
  • Working with the resident creative team on understudy rehearsals.
  • Ensuring that ‘get ins’ go smoothly and accurately replicate the show.
  • Assist the stage management team with rehearsal requirements including copying scripts, stage mark up, rehearsal prop and furniture requests.
  • Attend scheduled production meetings (online or in-person).
  • Call each performance, noting any issues and inconsistencies in the performance. Please note you must be able to cue to music.
  • Write a fully comprehensive show report with the Company Stage Manager after each performance and distribute to the relevant teams.
  • Deputise for the Company Stage Manager where necessary.
  • Create accurate production related paperwork and ensure the prompt book is up to date and concise for archive upon completion of the run.
  • Other duties as required by the Company Stage Manager and Production Manager.

Requirements

  • Technical HND or theatre practice qualification or experience.
  • Teamwork lover.
  • Communication, both written and verbal.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Relevant Health and Safety legislation and General Data Protection.
  • Calm, and works under pressure.
