Curatorial Fellow, South Square and The Hepworth Wakefield

South Square Centre is looking for a committed and enthusiastic Curatorial Fellow to work closely with the Project Manager to co-curate an exciting programme of contemporary art exhibitions and partnership projects in 2015 – 2016. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with curatorial experience to develop their skills and experience working with artists, curators and partner organisations in West Yorkshire. As a member of the South Square team you will have an active role in the development and delivery of our artistic programme. You will also be provided with support and a budget to research and curate your own exhibition in South Square Gallery furthering our aims as a centre for excellent contemporary art.

In addition to working at South Square, you will have brief placements within the curatorial, learning and public programming teams at The Hepworth Wakefield. This will provide you with opportunities to contribute to and witness the process of delivering exhibitions of historical and contemporary art and public engagement and learning events in an organisation of international significance. You will also be provided with the opportunity to receive formal training. Throughout the fellowship you will receive support, mentoring and training to develop your key skills. You will gain practical and theoretical curatorial experience that will improve your confidence in this field.

Hours: 14 hours per week (2 days)

Length of contract: 1 year

Rate: £7 per hour (£98 per week) with travel subsidiaries available

Report to: Yvonne Carmichael (Project Manager), South Square Centre
