Are you a skilled curator with a passion for social history and the ability to engage a wide range of audiences with collections? Do you want to develop your career in an ambitious organisation and a beautiful location?

Working collaboratively with the Programming team, wider Lakeland Arts team and partners you will be responsible for managing and caring for Lakeland Arts collection, which includes Maritime and Social History and Fine and Applied Arts. You will work with the Programming team to tell stories through our collections and places, creating an engaging and participatory experience.

With the Programming team you will work with artists and communities to make the collection relevant today, creating participatory experiences that engage audiences in new and meaningful ways. At the forefront of your mind will be our ACE National Portfolio Organisation goals to deliver programming for wide audiences, commission new work, create digital content and to enrich our programme by contributing to Lakeland Arts Creative Case for Diversity objectives.

You will join Lakeland Arts as Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry close, ahead of an Arts Council England supported capital redevelopment. Your immediate focus will be the exhibition programme at Windermere Jetty Museum of Boats, Steam and Stories, and Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House, which will be co-produced with the Participation & Learning team, and the care of the collection, working with the collections team to advise on the display and storage of the collection. You will also work with the Head of Curatorial, Curatorial & Programme Assistant and wider project team to produce the closure programme at the Abbot Hall site.
