This varied role is suitable for a skilled painting conservator working to high quality standards within the Heritage sector.
Working within the multidisciplinary Conservation & Collections Team supporting the operation and development of museums across Lancashire and the North West and beyond, as part of our provision of specialist conservation, technical, design and curatorial services. We are part of Lancashire County Councils Museum Service and we operate 8 heritage venues across the county.
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills to lead the pictorial art conservation and collection care work of the Service. Reporting to the senior museum professional the Conservation & Collections Manager, we are looking for an individual with specialist skills in the area of easel painting conservation who is used to working to a high standard and to multiple deadlines.
The post holder will provide all aspects of support for the Museum Service and its external clients especially in the provision of pictorial art practical and preventative conservation activities of the Museum service as well as for loans, museum documentation and training. The post-holder will be contributing to the development the policies and procedures relating to the care of our wider collections and the creation and implementation of the preventative conservation procedures across the service. External income generation is a key activity of the role and the successful post-holder will be undertaking all aspects of this from initial quotes through conservation to the liaising with clients regarding collection & delivery.
The post is based in Preston but the successful candidate will work at venues across Lancashire and the wider North West.
