We are Here! Is the Creative People and Places project for West Cumbria. We are very interested in hearing from people who have passion for the community of West Cumbria and the development of a community-led creative programme.
We are Here is determined to embed itself within the local communities of West Cumbria. In order to begin building this relationship we need someone that is devoted to regular weekly on the ground work with local groups to sustain ongoing relationships.
Half of the Community Producer’s (CP) role will include visiting Village Halls, Community Centres, Warm Hubs, local centres and other non-arts venues across West Cumbria to connect with local people. Their role will be to keep groups informed about the We are Here! programme activities as well as gather people’s interests in what kind of creative activities they would like to get involved in or experience in the future. The CP will hold a budget to invest in the seeding of ideas with local people and generating small projects that they can support in an ongoing way throughout the year.
The CP will present evidence at our Citizens Assemblies alongside local community members. This role will work closely with our lead organisation ACT, to develop a balanced connection to the rural communities across West Cumbria building on existing relationships and targeting the widest representation of this complex region. We want to develop a presence within a representative range of local communities across West Cumbria.
The second half of the CP role will focus on developing Place Based projects that are developed in collaboration with international and national artists within places across West Cumbria. Navigating and nurturing the relationship of the local community to the pieces of work being created is essential for the successful development of audiences within the region, and the CP will hold this relationship supporting We are Here! and our partners to programme and curate work with, through and for local people.
