During the Easter break, St George’s Hall lifted up their day-to-day flooring to reveal the incredible Minton Tiled Floor, saved and reonvated in 2015.

The victorian tiles, manufactured by Minton were installed in 1854 but were seen as ‘at risk’ from the 1990’s. In 2015, restoration work was undertaken to preserve this heritage flooring due to the hall being open to the public on a daily basis.

This means that the floor is now covered almost all the time, so viewings are limited. WE simply don’t think this is fair, so sent along photographer, Thomas Ava, to get pictures that capture the floor in all its glory, so you can see one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings in its entirety all year round:
