Bluecoat, the UK’s oldest arts centre turned 300 last week. To celebrate they launched Public View, an exhibition of 106 artist alumni who have exhibited at the gallery over the last 50 years.
Some are visiting for the first time since the gallery’s new wing was opened in 2008, and some are no longer with us. Some are internationally significant names, and some are distinctly local. What unites all work in the show is the impact it has had on the gallery and its visitors.
Below, Tony Knox leads us through the exhibition in pictures. To find out more about the show, Julia Johnson and Leyla Gurr have written in depth pieces about the show here & here.
