This weekend’s exhibition at Arena by members of the SOUP collective reminded us about this unusual exhibition and venue during the Biennial in 2006.
It was in the Albany apartments in the grand old Victorian building designed by JK Colling in Old Hall Street, Liverpool 1 which were still being refurbished.
The space was called Cube Noir and was curated by Gareth Kemp.
The SOUP collective members are artists who work at Tate Liverpool, Gazpacho members work at National Museums Liverpool. So obviously there was intense rivalry and competition. Who won? The public who came to see it of course, so many talented artists working in our local galleries and museums!
