Calderstones is a lovely park, very popular with families, gardening and nature enthusiasts and now the Reader Organisation have a base in the Mansion House with many literature and art based events and a cafe open all day.
Adjacent to the house is the old Coach House which has been renamed as The Reader Gallery. There have been exhibitions there for several years and Joel Bird is a regular even though he is now based in London.
We had a good chat about art, sheds, allotments and, of course, birds which feature a lot in his artwork.
