Writer in Residence, Heart of Glass

Writer in Residence, Heart of Glass

Heart of Glass is looking for a Writer in Residence, who is at the beginning of their career, to join our organisation to bring life to our programmes of work through storytelling. We are open to the form in which these stories take shape, and this could be short films, creative writing, podcasts, illustrations etc.

This role will see someone join the team to work with our community collaborators, partners, artists and audiences over the next 12 months, to communicate the stories behind the making of the art work and people’s engagement with it. This means lots of cups of tea, listening, talking, reflecting and the re-telling of our work in accessible and engaging ways for a range of audiences.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is interested in art and creative practices and passionate about the lives of and power of communities. Someone who has great listening skills and can document our work in creative ways.

We know that experience can come from many different fields – be that formal education, previous practice, informal learning, or lived experience.

The application pack is available to download from the Heart of Glass website www.heartofglass.org.uk/opportunities/

Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm on Monday 5th April 2021, and interviews will be held via Zoom on Tuesday 13th April 2021.

WESTON JERWOOD CREATIVE BURSARIES SCHEME

This particular role is funded as part of a wider programme called the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries Programme, which is designed and delivered by Jerwood Arts, and is aimed at giving opportunities to people from low or working class backgrounds. The programme recognises that there are less opportunities for people from these backgrounds to enter and maintain a career in the arts and seeks to address this imbalance.
