In-Situ is an artist-led organisation based in Brierfield, Pendle. Our vision is to support high-quality arts activity locally, working alongside the community to create visible, self-sustaining art and culture, through a range of collaborative artworks, events, local and international artist residencies and partnerships.

We are currently working in partnership with the Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership on an exciting four year programme: The Gatherings. The Gatherings looks to re-connect people and place, with a focus on landscape & heritage and what these things mean to the people living here today.

Underlying the programme is community engagement through a socially engaged approach to increasing awareness and access to the Pendle Hill Landscape (AONB).

We invite artists to come and spend time in the local area (Pendle) developing new works and ideas which can be shared with the local community and wider.

Testing ground: Emerging Artist Micro Residencies

Artist Fee: £800

Materials Budget: up to £200

*Please note this opportunity is aimed at emerging artists and/or recent graduates. We have a separate application for Artists with 2 or more years of experience.

This residency aims to give emerging artists with an interest in socially engaged practices an opportunity to test out new ways of working in response to the new restrictions brought about by COVID. We appreciate this is a difficult time for artists to adapt and rethink socially engaged work and we hope to support artists to trail new ways of engaging with others.

These residencies are intended to:

  • Provide artists with the space, time and support to develop their ideas
  • Develop new ways of working with people with support from an experienced team
  • Create a platform for artists to share their work with audiences and engage with the local community

Proposed ideas should have relevance to the local area and/ or landscape.
