Rowan View art commission – Artist brief and application, Mersey Care

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust
Art Commission

Artist Brief and Application Process

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust (Mersey Care) is calling for applications from experienced and suitably qualified artists/artist teams for the commission of a coherent series of artistic pieces at a new mental health facility, Rowan View in Maghull, Merseyside. This will include a high impact piece of art at the entrance and art in the main arteries of the building which provide a healing environment that makes service users value themselves, identify their goals and how to reach them, providing a place of hope and purpose. The unit will provide medium secure mental health and specialist learning disability services for Mersey Care.

Our service users will be at the heart of this project and the selected artist/artist teams must demonstrate how they will work with a range of stakeholders, service users and staff to develop a sense of ownership of the building and its grounds. Therefore the artist/artist team must also outline the approach they will take to engage and work with our service users. We will expect applicants to showcase previous commissions where they have experience of successful public engagement.
